Yooperlite appears to be an ordinary grey stone, but under UV light, it reveals glowing orange and yellow patterns. This striking effect comes from fluorescent Sodalite embedded in a Syenite matrix.
While Sodalite itself has been known for centuries, these glowing rocks were first identified on the shores of Lake Superior in Michigan in 2017 by Erik Rintamaki, who gave them the name "Yooperlite". They had not been previously recognized for their fluorescent properties in that region.
Ideal for collectors who enjoy contrast and discovery, Yooperlite offers a surprising transformation when exposed to UV light, subtle in daylight, vibrant in the dark.
